Projects

How do workspaces work?

A workspace is the ownership boundary for projects in HacknPlan.

Two workspace types exist:

  • Personal workspace: included with every account, supports unlimited free projects with limited features.
  • Studio workspace: available with Studio subscription, includes projects plus managed users and seats.

Workspace owner and admins control project access within that workspace.

Workspace dashboards

Workspace-level dashboards provide cross-project visibility.

  • My dashboard: personal view of assigned work, events, and activity.
  • Workspace dashboard (Studio): aggregate view across all projects and users.
  • User dashboard (Studio): per-user workload and progress view for admins.

Managing projects

In Studio, an early step is usually importing existing personal projects into the workspace:

Administration -> Projects -> Import

Studio also supports creating projects from templates. Optional template components include:

  • master data (required)
  • users
  • boards and milestones
  • game design model
  • work items

Copied work items are reset to initial workflow stage and do not retain activity/history state.

Users and teams (Studio)

Users must be added to workspace before being added to projects:

Administration -> Users

During user addition, you can optionally assign:

  • team
  • initial projects

Teams help organize larger organizations. They are useful for batch project assignment, but teams are not permanently linked to projects after assignment.

If a team is removed, members move to Unassigned.
