Projects

Setting up a project

HacknPlan supports unlimited projects. In most cases, keeping one game under one project is the simplest model, especially on Personal plans.

Split into multiple projects only when boundaries are clear (for example, game and tooling managed separately).

Creating a project

Create from New -> Project or shortcut P.

Studio admins can choose whether the project is created in personal or Studio workspace.

Module configuration

Project setup includes feature presets:

  • Lite
  • Documentation
  • Agile
  • Full suite
  • Custom

Use module toggles to remove unused features and keep the UI focused.

Project template (Studio)

Studio projects can be initialized from existing projects.

Template options:

  • master data (required)
  • users
  • game design model
  • boards
  • work items

Project information

Setup fields include:

  • Name
  • Description
  • Cost metric (hours, days, or points)
  • Hours per day (when using days)
  • Logo (Personal Plus and Studio)
  • General info (formatted text)

Understanding project structure

HacknPlan organizes delivery around work items (tasks and user stories), with additional dimensions:

  • Boards/milestones: time scope
  • Design elements: functional scope
  • Categories: discipline scope

Main sections available from the left menu include dashboards, boards, backlog, game design model, reports, planning tools, and administration.

Typical cadence:

  • use design model and backlog for planning
  • run execution from boards
  • evaluate via metrics and reports

Closing a project

Admins can close/reopen projects from:

Administration -> General -> Close project

Closed projects remain accessible to administrators.
